Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming a Notary Public in Connecticut

Meet the Eligibility Requirements

Before applying to become a notary in Connecticut, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years old.

  • You must be a resident of Connecticut or have a principal place of business in Connecticut.

  • You must have no felony convictions or have had a felony conviction that was pardoned.

Complete the Application

  • Obtain the Application Form:

  • Fill Out the Application:

  • Gather Supporting Documents:

Submit the Application and Pay the Fee

Mail the Application:

Send the completed application along with a check or money order for the application fee ($120) to the following address:

Take the Oath of Office

File Your Oath and Certificate

File with the Town Clerk:

File your oath of office and the certificate with the town clerk in the town where you reside or have your principal place of business.
